After a quick two-hour flight from San Salvador, we’re back in Mexico City (CDMX), and we couldn’t be more excited!
We’re settling in for a while at JOSEFA by URBANISTA in the lively Juárez neighborhood, right off the iconic Paseo de la Reforma. And after months of traveling through tropical climates, we’re rediscovering some of life’s little luxuries. 😍
🚿 Hot showers with amazing water pressure! After going without both for a while, this feels like a five-star indulgence.
🦟 No more mosquitos! Goodbye, DEET. You will NOT be missed!
🌤️ Cool, comfortable weather. Ahhhhhh. After nonstop sweating that continued since March of 2026 in the Philippines, we can finally walk for miles without melting. Our bodies are rejoicing!
🚶♀️ Sidewalks! Crosswalks! Pedestrian lights! Wide boulevards and actual pedestrian infrastructure. Who knew walking around a city could feel so liberating? Our stress levels just dropped several notches.
☕️ Café culture at its finest. Slow mornings at sidewalk cafés, sipping coffee, watching dog walkers expertly wrangle their furry packs, and nourishing our souls with plates of chilaquiles. European café vibes, Mexican breakfast perfection!
🌮 And THE FOOD! Let’s face it, Mexican food is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and we’re surrounded by the real deal, 24/7. No Taco Bell or Chipotle necessary. 😂
💀 A little Día de Muertos magic, too! We arrived just after the big Day of the Dead celebrations, but the city was still dressed for the occasion. Near the iconic Ángel de la Independencia, we admired the spectacular Mexicráneos—larger-than-life skull sculptures transformed into colorful works of art celebrating Mexican creativity, culture, and heritage.
CDMX, it’s only Day 1, and we’re so glad to be here. There’s something wonderful about returning to a city you already love and appreciating it all over again. ❤️
