Dear Friends: Stop Being So Generous
Seriously. Stop being so generous. You’re making it really hard for us to leave again!
Our few weeks back in the States were packed:
An epic neighborhood/backyard wedding! So worth the 5200 mile detour!
Catching up with friends like old times
A mountain of resupply boxes to unpack (basically Christmas!)
Eating our favorite foods
Keeping appointments
House- and dog-sitting, and
Completing repairs around Mom’s house
But the best part? Feeling like we belong.
That’s one of the tricky things about being nomadic. We LOVE the freedom of moving from place to place, but there’s something pretty wonderful about the comfort and familiarity of being surrounded by people who know us.
And our return was made even sweeter by the ridiculous generosity of our friends.
You opened your homes.
Fed us.
Poured us drinks.
Shared your couches and pools.
Let us drive your cars—yes, even our old cars, Olive-the-Outback and Virgil-the-Versa! 😂
And even welcomed us with a work lunch and an enduring plaque.
You know who you are.
And we love you right back—a hundredfold. ❤️
We’re soaking up this particular moment in our nomadic adventure—when our adventures are still new enough and our absence is still felt enough that people actually want to hang out with us when we come home. 😉
We don’t take any of it for granted.
But now…before you get any more generous and convince us to stay…
Back to our Coddiwompling! 🌎 Central America here we come.
