Manila: Totally Underrated

Manila (and the Philippines) is totally underrated. It has the potential to be the pacific hub and gateway to the rest of Asia, but it’s somehow not. Although, if it were, we couldn’t afford to thoroughly enjoy this 5-star luxury experience we’re having before we head to Malaysia!

Basically, we never left our hotel during the 36 hours we’ve been here. We chilled at the rooftop bar, pool, restaurant, and the sunset views—not to mention the people watching—to die for.

The one thing we did do was check out the Hard Rock Cafe in Manila where Arnel Pineda used to perform with his band, The Zoo; which led to him being discovered via YouTube video by Neal Schon as the current lead singer of Journey. Pineda already had a vocalist career in the Philippines and Hong Kong, but being the new singer of Journey sent his fame to the stratosphere. I hope you get a chance to watch the documentary, “Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey” about Pineda’s initial life with Journey. It’s a cool story.

We’re off to Malaysia, but excited to come back to the Philippines and explore more of Manila and all the pristine islands and mountain towns in the future!
